Breaking ground on park improvements

Furino and Sons is proud to announce that we have officially broken ground on a new public park improvements project that will bring exciting upgrades to a beloved community space.

The project includes significant modifications and enhancements to multiple recreational facilities, including baseball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, pickleball courts and basketball courts. These improvements are designed to enhance safety, accessibility and overall enjoyment for residents, athletes and families throughout the community.

We are honored to be part of a project that strengthens public spaces and encourages active, healthy lifestyles. Furino and Sons looks forward to delivering high-quality work and keeping the community informed as construction progresses.

Steel erection progresses at Bladeroom sites

Furino & Sons is proud to share an update on our continued progress at two major data center construction sites in Totowa, New Jersey and Orangeburg, New York. These projects mark a significant step forward in supporting the growing demand for secure, high-performance digital infrastructure across the Northeast.

Totowa, NJ: setting the standard for reliability

Our Totowa project, which broke ground earlier this year, is quickly taking shape. Structural steel installation is nearing completion, and major mechanical and electrical components are being positioned to support the facility’s advanced cooling and power systems. Once completed, the Totowa Data Center will provide over 150,000 square feet of critical IT space, engineered for high efficiency and maximum uptime.

Furino & Sons teams are working closely with local partners to keep all phases on schedule and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety on site.

Orangeburg, NY: building for the future

Construction at the Orangeburg Data Center is progressing ahead of plan. Concrete foundations and exterior framing are well underway, and infrastructure for redundant power and fiber connectivity is being installed to support future tenant operations. This 200,000-square-foot facility will play a key role in expanding the region’s data capacity through energy-efficient design and low-impact construction practices.

JFK Airport’s largest solar carport project underway

In collaboration with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the New York Power Authority, Furino and Sons, Inc. has begun construction on New York State’s largest onsite solar plus storage project: a solar carport canopy at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Highlighted in Governor Hochul’s State of the State address, the project supports New York’s commitment to clean energy and infrastructure innovation. The JFK solar carport aligns with the state’s climate agenda by advancing the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, creating sustainable jobs and driving green economic growth. The project also ensures that a significant portion of clean energy investments benefit disadvantaged communities.

As with all Port Authority capital initiatives, the solar carport adheres to the agency’s 30% participation goal for minority- and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs), reinforcing its commitment to equitable economic opportunity.

Stay tuned for updates on this project, which positions JFK Airport at the forefront of sustainable infrastructure.

Project highlight: GIS and switchgear buildings at Elizabeth

We are proud to announce the successful completion of the GIS (gas-insulated switchgear) and switchgear buildings at Elizabeth. These structures are essential components of the electrical infrastructure, designed to improve reliability and efficiency for the area’s power needs.

Key features of the project

  • Advanced technology. GIS offers a compact design and improved reliability, ideal for urban sites where space is limited.
  • Scalability. The facilities are designed to accommodate future expansion as demand for power grows.
  • Environmental considerations. The project used eco-friendly practices and materials to minimize environmental impact during construction and operation.
  • Safety protocols. Stringent safety measures protected our team and the surrounding community throughout the project.
  • Collaboration. Our team worked closely with engineers, architects and local authorities to meet all regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Impact on development

The completion of the GIS and switchgear buildings is a significant milestone in the development of the Elizabeth area. With reliable power infrastructure in place, the area is better equipped to support residential, commercial and industrial growth.

We are thrilled to have played a role in this project and look forward to the positive outcomes it will bring.
